Projekta 57 - Bamakko Window + Melbourne Design Market

yieo. here's what Pete and i came up with for Bamakko's contribution to Projekta 57. thanks to those who dropped by, was also great to finally meet the super talented ladies from Meg's Threads, Mizu Designs and Ms. Sneak herself face to face - after months of coercing online only. twas also cool to have one last collab with my friend Pete, who's currently overseas catchin' up with RZA in NYC.

here are the pics:

window 80% finished

my dragon

a terrible photograph of pete's dragon with a hint of 'Selig'

finished window replete with a borrowed piece of Mr. B's fabric to aid in the visualization of White Poska

also made my way over to the other things going on for the design festival - i squeezed my way through a giant horde of humans, like a piece of cheese migrating its way through a cheese grater desperate to seperate itself from its solidified brethren - in order to say hello to textile maestro Lara from Kirin Notebook and to check out Bamakko's stall. also went to the Design Made Trade show, and traversed myself around an intricate cardboard maze in order to find the cheese. the cheese being Ben and his stall for Keec. and i found him, and he was really sleepy - i bet he enjoyed his day off today!

Events This Week

eyyy, my friend Ben from Bamakko and Keec has lots of things going on this week for the Melbourne International Design Festival. First up is Projekta 57 on 19 and 26 July, where a bunch of awesome galleries and shops along Route 57 are showcasing their locally made wares and art. Bamakko is one of them, and the store's designers and artisans will be present to talk about their processes. My friend and collaborator Peter Hinch from Really Whale and I will also be present, we'll be creating a live mural on the Bamakko window, we're thinking of drawing dragons, but knowing us two, we'll divert on a tangent and probably illustrate a giant walrus baby in a zoot suit.

Ben will also be present at the Design Made Trade show at the Royal Exhibition Building 17-20 July. Our 'Other People's Blood' bag collaboration will be on display to hopefully entice people.

And lastly, once again, the Melbourne Design Market is on this Sunday at the Fed Square car park. Bamakko will have a stall there, and will be selling good stuff by Really Whale and Sneak Design and lots more. Also, a limited run of the Keec and Do Yeah collab bag will be onsale, get in early while stocks last. Anyhoo, should be a fun couple of days, hope to see you there!
